A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in the Mothibistad Magistrates’ Court in Kuruman in the Northern Cape for the rape and assault of his 10-year-old stepdaughter.
He had previously been accused of beating a woman with a sjambok in a separate incident.
Northern Cape National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, says the accused had committed two incidents in a short space of time and abused his position of trust in relation to the child.
