In an effort to deepen customer relationships through experiences beyond financial services, GCB Bank hosted its maiden Aerobics Fiesta in Accra, combining fitness, health awareness and entertainment to reinforce its customer-centred approach to banking.
The event, held at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, October 31, formed part of the Bank’s broader efforts to strengthen relationships with its customers while promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging greater attention to personal well-being.
The fiesta featured a range of activities, including aerobics, yoga sessions, health screenings and family-friendly entertainment, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in physical exercise, access health services and interact with the Bank in a relaxed and informal environment.
A major highlight of the occasion was a musical performance by popular Ghanaian music group Dope Nation, whose appearance added excitement to the celebration and provided entertainment for participants.
The combination of fitness activities, wellness sessions and live music created an atmosphere that brought together people of different backgrounds and age groups, reinforcing the community-oriented nature of the initiative.
Beyond the entertainment and physical activities, the event offered customers an opportunity to interact with GCB Bank’s management and employees outside the conventional banking environment. It also provided a platform for customers and staff to connect through shared experiences, with wellness serving as the central focus of the gathering.
The initiative marked the grand finale of GCB Bank’s 2026 Customer Service Month celebration, held under the theme ‘The Extra Mile’, which underscored the Bank’s commitment to putting customers at the centre of its operations and continually improving their banking experience.
Through the celebration, the Bank sought to reinforce the importance of customer satisfaction, service excellence and meaningful engagement, while demonstrating its willingness to explore different approaches to building stronger relationships with the people and communities it serves.
Speaking on the rationale behind the initiative, GCB Bank’s Chief Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Officer, Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo, said the Aerobics Fiesta was designed to create an opportunity for the Bank to connect with customers on a more personal level while encouraging them to prioritise their health and general well-being.
“With this aerobics, we are trying to engage with our customers on a more personal level. We are also encouraging them to take their wellness seriously,” she said.
She explained that the initiative reflected the Bank’s understanding that customer relationships should extend beyond routine financial transactions to include activities and experiences that contribute to customers’ broader interests and quality of life.
According to her, the fiesta provided an opportunity for customers to interact with the Bank outside the traditional banking environment, fostering a more relaxed atmosphere for engagement while promoting a shared commitment to healthy living.
Ms Ofori-Dwumfuo described the event as the maiden edition of the Bank’s Aerobics Fiesta and expressed optimism that it would become a permanent feature of its annual calendar.
She said the Bank was encouraged by the prospects of the initiative and intended to build on the experience by introducing more engaging activities that would bring customers closer to the institution.
She further stressed that customer centricity remained a fundamental pillar of the Bank’s corporate strategy, explaining that the needs, expectations and satisfaction of customers continued to inform its business decisions and service delivery priorities.
“Customer centricity on its own is actually a pillar of our strategy as a bank and where we are going. We understand that we put the customers first with everything,” she said.
The emphasis on customer centricity, she noted, was reflected in the Bank’s commitment to continuously reviewing and improving its services to respond to the changing expectations of customers in an increasingly competitive banking environment.
With customers becoming more discerning about the quality of service, convenience and overall experience offered by financial institutions, initiatives such as the Aerobics Fiesta provide an additional avenue for banks to maintain meaningful connections with their clientele.
Ms Ofori-Dwumfuo assured customers that the Bank would continue to explore innovative ways of strengthening customer engagement, expressing optimism that the maiden Aerobics Fiesta would pave the way for similar initiatives in subsequent years.
Reflecting on the Bank’s longstanding contribution to Ghana’s financial sector, she noted that since its establishment in 1953, GCB Bank had consistently evolved to meet changing customer expectations and respond to developments within the banking industry.
She added that the Bank would continue to strengthen its products, services and operational processes to deliver improved banking experiences and sustain its commitment to customer satisfaction.
The Bank’s focus on customer wellness also reflects a broader approach to corporate engagement, where businesses seek to establish stronger relationships with stakeholders through initiatives that extend beyond their immediate commercial activities.
By incorporating physical exercise, health awareness and entertainment into its Customer Service Month celebration, GCB Bank provided a platform for customers, employees and other stakeholders to connect through shared experiences while highlighting the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles.
The event further reinforced the message behind this year’s theme, ‘The Extra Mile’, by demonstrating the Bank’s intention to explore additional ways of engaging customers and making their relationship with the institution more meaningful.
As the Bank looks towards future editions of the initiative, the maiden Aerobics Fiesta provided a foundation for expanding its customer engagement activities and further strengthening its customer-centred approach.
For GCB Bank, the celebration represents another opportunity to reinforce its longstanding service commitment while exploring new ways of ensuring that the customer experience extends beyond the banking hall.
