African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramphosa says voters must hold councilors responsible for not delivering essential services in communities. He was speaking during the Limpopo ANC rally in Polokwane, Limpopo. South Africa holds local government elections on Wednesday and eligible voters are urged to take part in the democratic process. The ANC is hoping to retain all the 27 municipalities currently under its control in the province. Ramaphosa says councillors’ work must be strictly audited and that they should be held responsible for underperforming. “Our councillors will be required to hold regular meetings to publish the budgets and to put the budget on the notice board and to show the audit outcomes and to account for every cent. They will have 100 days to show real progress on the issues that matter most in each municipality and we call on you, as you are going to vote for ANC as many of our people in this province, to make sure that our councillors live up to what we expect from them.” WATCH | LGE 2026 | ANC in Limpopo holds final rally | Reporter: Baatseba Mabowa
