The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Community Safety Committee has urged police to strengthen their presence at high-risk voting stations ahead of Wednesday’s local government elections.
Special voting gets underway on Monday.
The Committee has warned against political violence and intimidation.
Chairperson, Bandile Masuku says, “Police must act decisively, impartially and within the law against anyone who attempts to disrupt the electoral process through violence, intimidation or other unlawful conduct. The safety of voters, election officials, political party representatives and members of the public must remain a priority.
