Prepare to say goodbye to Range Rover’s two most affordable models, as the Evoque and Velar celebrate their final model year in production. The company has confirmed to British outlet Autocar that the volume sellers will cease production after 2027 and be replaced by the new Range Rover GT.
“Both Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque will continue to be sold in selected global markets where demand remains strong, throughout 2027,” a JLR spokesperson told Car and Driver. “Production of both models will end in mid-2027 in line with their natural product lifecycles, as JLR’s manufacturing facilities transition to build its next generation of vehicles.”

The Evoque and Velar’s sales have accounted for just 6000 of Land Rover’s U.S. sales through this year. Paltry numbers, representing only 10 percent of the brand’s 2026 sales volume in the U.S. so far. It would not surprise us if North America is not one of the global markets the company considers a high-demand market for these two models. We asked for clarification from JLR but have not heard back.
The two SUVs are attractive not only for their styling but also for their relatively low prices compared with the six-figure ask for the flagship Range Rover SUV. The Evoque starts at around $52,000 and the Velar at around $64,000. Both ride on the same platform as the Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV, which was discontinued after the 2026 model year.
The move comes amid a broader strategy shift at JLR, Jaguar and Land Rover’s parent company. In the past year, both brands have focused on launching electric-powered flagships, the most buzzworthy of which is the Jaguar Type 01 sedan.
Range Rover has launched the Range Rover Electric and is preparing a Range Rover Sport Electric, effectively electrifying its core lineup. A new entry-level Range Rover GT is also on the way and will effectively replace the Evoque and Velar once it hits production as a 2028 model.
Like the Jaguar Type 01, the Range Rover GT takes the shape of a long and low sedan-like vehicle with a minimalist interior and an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain. The Range Rover GT will launch first as an EV, but the company says the platform is capable of hosting gas and hybrid powertrains as well. A starting price of around $90,000 is expected, significantly increasing the entry price to the Range Rover brand.

Land Rover’s other two brands—Defender and Discovery—are expected to pick up the slack and serve customers in the sub-$90,000 price range once the Evoque and Velar cease production. A Defender Sport model is reportedly in the works as a junior entry to the popular Defender off-roader. It stands to reason that a Discovery Sport model could be revived in the future, possibly as an EV, to serve as an entry point to the Discovery lineup.
