Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has shed light on some of the challenges facing the association in managing the country’s various national teams, calling for greater government support to ensure the long-term development of football.

Okraku disclosed that all 20 national teams, including the Black Stars and Black Queens, rely on a single team bus purchased by the GFA 18 years ago.

The bus, which was acquired in 2008, is now out of service, forcing the association to rent one during the most recent international window.

Speaking about the challenges before Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports, Okraku described the situation as one of the fundamental problems preventing Ghana from building a sustainable and successful football ecosystem.

“Your Black Stars, your Black Queens, and the 18 other national teams have access to one bus that was purchased by the GFA in 2008. Now the bus is broken. During the last international window, the GFA had to rent a bus.

“If we want to create a sustained football ecosystem, these are the fundamentals. These are the reasons we have not had sustained and continuous victorious stories over generations. These are the hard truths,” he said.
