The process started smoothly in Durban on Monday morning, despite the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issuing a Yellow Level 4 warning for heavy downpours and hail over most parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
SA Weather Report | 02 November 2026
More than 2.6 million voters are eligible for special votes nationally, with KZN recording the highest number of home visits.
KwaZulu-Natal has the largest number of home visits.
IEC officials have started visiting those who can’t go to voting stations.
The SAWS has warned that heavy downpours are expected in KZN.
The rain could also affect voter turnout, but the IEC says those who were unable to cast their special votes on Monday, can do so on Tuesday.
