A24’s thriller Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as former television presenter Chris Hansen, is now available to watch at home following its theatrical release. The film arrives on premium video on demand platforms on November 3, allowing viewers to rent or purchase it digitally. Available retailers include Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home. On Apple TV, Primetime is listed for $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to purchase. Prices and availability may vary across platforms and regions. The digital release comes a little over a month after the film premiered in US cinemas on September 25. It debuted at the Venice International Film Festival on September 5 before its theatrical rollout. Directed by Lance Oppenheim, Primetime draws inspiration from events surrounding a 2006 television sting operation. The story follows Hansen as he pursues a career defining television moment, only for a high stakes operation to take a devastating turn. A24 describes the film as an exploration of performative justice. Pattinson leads an ensemble cast that includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine, Anna Faris, Alex Winter and Phoebe Bridgers. The screenplay was written by Ajon Singh and adapted from Luke Dittrich’s 2007 Esquire article, “Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die.” The film marks Oppenheim’s narrative feature directorial debut. His other work includes the documentary You Can See Everything, which he co directed. Although Primetime is now available for digital purchase and rental, a subscription streaming release date has not been announced. A potential arrival on HBO Max has been speculated about based on A24’s distribution arrangements, but no official date has been confirmed.
