Briefing the media in Midrand, north of Johanneburg, IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo cautioned against the spread of misinformation.

“Unsubstantiated election fraud pronouncements by some political parties has led to supporters posting videos of presiding officers and staff transferring special votes ballot after home visits from the carrying boxes and bags into the main ballot box at the voting station. The videos are shared without context, alongside claims that something untoward was underway. The Commission appeals to political parties to avoid making inflammatory remarks, which represent the standard operating procedures regarding the voting process.”
