Channing Tatum has debuted a slightly updated accent for Gambit in a new Avengers: Doomsday x Dunkin Donuts ad.
Tatum's Gambit made his debut in Deadpool and Wolverine with a very ridiculous, over-the-top Cajun accent. It worked for that film, given its inherent silliness, but it may be a bit jarring in a movie like Avengers: Doomsday, which seems to have a more serious tone compared to a Deadpool adventure. As a result, it seems like Tatum has toned it down a bit, but without making it feel dramatically different.
In a new Dunkin Donuts ad, Tatum's Gambit speaks with Herbie from the Fantastic Four film, allowing fans to hear a slightly more serious take on his character's voice. You can see a side-by-side comparison of his two appearances below.

Last year, Tatum had teased that he wasn't going to go "full Cajun" with Gambit in Doomsday. He noted that it was important for the character to be able to be taken seriously, rather than feeling like some kind of parody.
“I’m not gonna go full Cajun," he said. "[The directors] want things to be funny, but they don’t want to go full Deadpool. They want to keep the drama and keep it tight. When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”
As of right now, it's unclear how big of a role Gambit will have in Avengers: Doomsday. He was a glorified cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine, but fans loved him, so it made sense to bring him back in a new film. Channing Tatum had originally been cast as Gambit in the 2010s for a solo film based on the character, but it unfortunately never went anywhere. Seeing that as an opportunity, Ryan Reynolds and the team behind Deadpool and Wolverine invited him to have a chance to finally play the character on the big screen.
It seems unlikely that Tatum's Gambit will be a primary player in the new X-Men film, which has a cast of mostly 20-somethings. Inde Navarette is set to play Rogue in the new film, and at 25 years old, it may not make sense to pair her with a 46-year-old version of Gambit. But hey, anything is possible!
