Your Super Station, Joy 99.7 FM has announced four major events for the 2026 Christmas and New Year season.
The events, scheduled between 13th December 2026 and 1st January 2027, will take place at various venues in Accra and Aburi. They will offer patrons a mix of Christmas carols, family entertainment, music and end-of-year festivities.
Joy FM’s annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will open the festivities on Sunday, 13th December, at 3pm at the Labadi Beach Hotel’s Omanye Hall.
The programme traditionally combines the biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ with scripture readings, Christmas carols, gospel music and other entertainment. It has become a major fixture on Joy FM’s festive calendar, attracting listeners, families and personalities from different sectors of society.
The 2025 edition featured performances by Perez Musik, Queendalyn, Pastor Ella Somuah, and the Grace Chorale, alongside comedy from Jeneral Ntatia. The programme also featured readings by personalities from the corporate world, arts and other sectors. It was hosted by Fifi Folson and Jacinta Ocansey.
The new addition, Colours of Christmas, is scheduled for Thursday, 24th December, at Labadi Beach. The event will feature Christmas-themed partying and entertainment, with patrons encouraged to wear clothes in different colours, to add a colourful twist to the traditional Christmas Eve celebration.
On Saturday, 26th December, the annual Family Party in the Park will take place at the Aburi Botanical Gardens. The programme, which has become a popular Boxing Day attraction, brings families and friends together for a day of music, food, games and outdoor entertainment.
Previous editions have featured activities such as sack races, cooking competitions, dancing contests, treasure hunts and other games for children and adults. Live music, performances by Ghanaian artistes and the popular highlife and Jama sessions have also been part of the experience.
The celebrations will continue into the New Year with the return of 90s Jam on Friday, 1st January 2027, at Pleasant Gardens.
Scheduled to run from 8pm to 4am, the programme will take music lovers on a nostalgic journey through the sounds, fashion and culture of the 1990s.
The 90s Jam has, over the years, established itself as one of Joy FM’s signature entertainment events, bringing together music lovers to celebrate classic Ghanaian highlife, early hiplife, hip-hop, R&B, reggae, dancehall and other hits from the decade.
It has always attracted patrons dressed in retro outfits, with DJs playing popular songs from Ghana and beyond. The January 2026 edition at Pleasant Gardens featured an all-night selection of classic music and drew large crowds of nostalgia enthusiasts.
