The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has launched a search for a 24-year-old man from Observatory who went missing in Betty’s Bay on the Cape South Coast.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says police and NSRI divers, as well as a rescue helicopter, have been deployed to the scene.
He says rescue swimmers also conducted free dive search efforts.
“Despite an extensive air, sea and shoreline search, there are no signs of the missing man. Police have opened an investigation. Police divers of the Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) are continuing ongoing search efforts, and on Sunday Police divers are being assisted by NSRI Kleinmond. Thoughts and care are with the family and friends of the missing man in this difficult time.”
