The Free State Department of Education says it strongly condemns the alleged sexual harassment and abuse of a young female educator by a 14-year-old Grade 7 learner at Dibeng-sa-Tsebo Primary School.
It is alleged that on Tuesday 27 October, the learner attempted to inappropriately touch the educator.
Spokesperson Howard Ndaba says the 32-year-old educator acted swiftly to protect herself.
The school management immediately informed the parents and reported the matter to the South African Police Service.
A case has been opened, and it is under investigation.
The educator has since reported being unwell and unable to report for duty.
The Department has provided psychosocial support to the affected educator.
