uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) leader Jacob Zuma has called for political tolerance as millions of South Africans head to the polls for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Zuma was speaking to the media at Ntolwane Primary School in Ward 14, Nkandla, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, where he cast his vote.
These are the first local government elections contested by the MKP.
The province has the highest number of areas identified as hotspots and with a history of political violence.
Zuma says he is confident that the party will make significant gains, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal.
“So, we have done something. I think everything seems to be in order. The voting process was smooth. I hope people will respect each other. I can tell you that people in this country want change. That is why they are coming out in their numbers to vote.”
