The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the criminal prosecution of media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye will proceed.

This comes after it declined representations submitted by Maarohanye, in which he sought an alternative dispute resolution in his criminal case.

Maarohanye faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe that it is a firearm.

NPA spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole says the representations were unsuccessful and they are going ahead with the criminal prosecution of Maarohanye.

Mohlatlole further adds, “The decision follows an assessment of representations with the prosecution satisfied that there is sufficient evidence and reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution. Maarohanye is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing anything likely to be mistaken for a firearm, following an alleged incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.”

“His defence has indicated its intention to escalate its representations to the office of the NDPP. The matter has been postponed to 23 November 2026 for the outcomes of his representations,” says Mohlatlole.
