The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an outlaw motorcycle gang accused of terrorising residents of Breman-Kronum-Suame in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Sharif Mahmud, 25-year-old Abdallah Karim and 25-year-old James Alena, were arrested during a police operation at Suame in Kumasi.
According to a police statement dated November 4, 2026, the arrests were made at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, following sustained monitoring of the group’s activities and movements.
The police say the suspected gang had allegedly been engaging in illegal midnight motorcycle racing, taking over public roads and attacking and robbing unsuspecting passersby.
These activities, the Command noted, had created fear and insecurity among residents in the affected communities.
The police said the group had consistently evaded arrest, prompting sustained efforts to track down its members.
Although three suspects have been apprehended, several other alleged members managed to escape during the operation.
The three arrested suspects have since been granted police inquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned before court when it resumes sitting, following the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG).
The Ashanti Regional Police Command says investigations are continuing, with efforts underway to identify and arrest the remaining members of the suspected gang.
It has also urged residents to volunteer credible information that could assist in tracking down the fleeing suspects, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
